To create a professional website for Doctor Pia to help new interested people convert to real clients.

The Goal

Doctor Pia's old site was out of date, text heavy, and wasn't readable enough. She needed an updated professional looking site for new potential clients, to give her more credibility with an updated brand and web redeisgn.

The Problem

The Previous Website

Pain Points

Doctoc Pia's previous website was very text heavy, with little images to break up the text wall. It felt like an overwhelming amount to read and my frist order of business was to break up that text.

Readability

We wanted to update the color palette, while keeping the blues and greens Doctor Pia related to healing.

Color Palette

Many photos were taken on a phone and were poor resolution that wasn't quite what we wanted for a  professional website. We wanted to update all those photos to good quality photos.

Using SHOWIT, a drag and drop website builder tool, I redesigned and built Doctor Pia's new website. SHOWIT made it super easy to build the websiteand it felt like I was working in Figma or Adobe Suite with it's simple intuitive features. I was able to easily integrate her forms and email as well as her old blog.

Pages

01

02

In the future, I would make sure the contract includes the amount of pages included in the price to ensure we are on the same page about how much work is included.

The Growing List

The amount of pages needed to design wasn't agreed upon in the contract and the list of pages needed to complete the project grew as time went on. In total, I ended up creating 9 pages, which is more than I originally thought we would need.

With future projects, I want to make sure to emphasize a time frame with flexibility for completion. Varying timelines depend on the speed on response. Or alternatively, if they have a deadline, evaluate what is reasonable within the given time frame.

Timeline

I projected that the project would take 2-3 weeks to the client, but realistically it took us about a month between the back and forth between the client and I.

03

Remembering there is time needed on the back end of things is important for deadlines. So factoring in if someone has a blog as well as the time needed to move over the domain name is important for future projects.

Blog Integration and Domain Name

Integrating a blog was a new experience for me and it took several days to move over, and I did not include this into my timeline. Moving over the domain name also takes time on the back end to move and secure.

The Process

In Doctor Pia's Words...

"I am thrilled with the fresh, modern, and clean website Caitlin Maren designed for me! Caitlin is a local Austinite, which made the process so much easier by allowing us to meet in person. That helped us streamline communication and make quick design decisions. She is efficient, kept me informed at every step, and delivered an exceptional final product—all at a reasonable price. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and highly recommend Caitlin for anyone looking for top-notch web design!"

Project Summary

Thank you!

Working with my first client was intimidating, but I think it turned out really well! There are tweaks I need to make in my overall process like fleshing out the contract, agreeing on more specific terms, and working on the general timeline and rhetoric around timeline. My consistent communication with my client kept us on the same page the whole time and overall got the professional website she was hoping for!
